Email #14: Why Videos Go Viral...

Dear <firstname> ,
As more and more markets become receptive
to the application of viral marketing strategies,
the viral video has continued to evolve and
adapt to more settings.

There are many reasons why videos take off
so easily as viral tools. A couple of good reasons
one can think of are:

-The subject matter makes sense to the viewers.
There is immediate rapport established that allows
viewers to understand and relate to what is going
on in the video.

-The video is easy to download and easier to distribute.
While often people will share a link to the video,
they may also want to download it.The video should
be uploaded and distributed to popular video sites like
youtube.com, or google video.

-The logical conclusion of the video inspires a "wow"
factor. That is, by the time viewers get to the end of
the video, they are already sold on the need for the
product and are open to finding out how to get it. At
the same time, they have already thought of a few
people who need to see the video and make plans to
pass the word along.

The three types of videos that normally attract attention
are the entertaining viral video, the informational viral
video and the conversational viral video.

Sometimes you may want to go the comedic or satirical
way. Some times the informational style works very well
in settings where a direct approach is expected. Example:
Promoting an informational product that has to do with a
serious subject. Conversational styles often include using
testimonials related to how the product helped people, and
often looks as if everyone were standing around having a
casual conversation.
